About this project

Luckett & Farley has designed zero-energy housing, the first of its kind on any military installation. The LEEDĀ® Platinum, four-bedroom 2,000sf, energy-free duplexes will generate as much electricity as they use over the course of a year. The design is based on a current Luckett & Farley duplex design and revised to incorporate energy-efficient amenities. Among the features to be included in the revised design include compact fluorescent lighting, solar roof panels and geothermal heat pumps.

One focus of the project is to reduce current energy usage by 50 to 75 percent and the other is to generate power from a self-sufficient source. The zero-energy homes are among the 521-unit Woodlands neighborhood that houses noncommissioned officers. Over 500 of the units are Energy StarĀ® Green Homes.

The units include a mix of four-bedroom duplex and single family homes. The project also includes three new community centers to match individual neighborhood requirements.
